TESOL Teaches You to Be Yourself

        TESOL not only teaches you how to teach, it also teaches you how to be yourself so that you can teach better. Everyone remembers different types of teachers in their school; tough, relaxed, crazy, etc., and every potential foreign language teacher worries about how they should behave in the classroom and what kind of teacher they should be.

        However, if you want to be the best teacher you can possibly be, try to manipulate yourself into what you think is a good teacher. There are in fact many types of great and successful teachers working in the English-speaking world, and one type of tutor is not necessarily better than another.

        A good start is to understand and assess what type of person you are born with, and then play to your strengths. Despite taking TESOL and becoming an international English teacher, you cannot manipulate yourself to be a superhero in the classroom, which creates stress and makes you and your students uncomfortable.

        If you're naturally a more relaxed and talkative person, then don't feel like you have to turn yourself into an authoritarian figure to gain respect. Likewise, if your nature is more composed and composed, don't think your classes can't be as fun as you are. There are so many fun teaching methods in TESOL courses, you don't have to joke every second just to make your students enjoy their time in the classroom with you.

        That's not to say that sometimes you don't have to act in ways that are beyond your comfort zone. Disciplining students may not be particularly enjoyable, but if they are a distraction to others trying to learn, then ultimately you have no choice, after all classroom management is part of being an English teacher. Taking TESOL to become an international English teacher is an important part of managing the classroom.

        Your personality affects not only your role but also your activities in the classroom. In short, it's always a good idea to teach through mediums and topics that interest you. If you're teaching creative writing, choose your favorite examples, knowledgeable and passionate, so you can teach it in a way that's enjoyable for both students and yourself. Let your personal strengths help you in the classroom. But always remember that you need to choose materials carefully based on the level and ability of your students. You can't teach Shakespeare to beginners.

        You should never try to change your personality, learn who you are and what you are good at, then apply for the TESOL certificate to become an international English teacher and do what you want.
