TESOL's Best Advice for New English Teachers

        Starting any job can be tough, but being a teacher has its own unique challenges. Maybe you're shy and not used to speaking in front of large groups, maybe you're not very good at explaining English grammar, or maybe you're not entirely sure how to keep a group of learners entertained for an entire class. Apply for the TESOL course without worrying about your own problems. The best way to teach better is even if you feel like a fish out of water at first, give it some time and soon it will become second nature to you. But to help you get there, the TESOL course has some advice for new English teachers:       

        Do homework

        Be prepared. Make sure you are familiar with the language you are teaching. This might mean you need to look up a grammar point in a reference book, but it's not an awkward thing to do. Most teachers have their own grammar reference book that they use to help them understand grammar points and be able to explain them to learners in a simple and clear way. TESOL courses help you better understand and better prepare you for your teaching job, and looking at the exercises before class will make sure everything goes smoothly.

        Be yourself

        Learners are very smart and can easily tell if you are sincere. TESOL courses teach you to be who you are, let your personality shine through your lessons, and are a way to make friends with your learners. Once they get to know you, they will respond better to you, so your class will be more enjoyable for both you and your learners.

        Strict

        Start with strict classes and then become more forgiving because once you establish yourself as a forgiving teacher, becoming more strict usually doesn't happen. Strict means having rules and boundaries that everyone knows and understands. While this may seem corny, it will help your lessons be more focused and ultimately more effective.

        Have fun

        Learning English shouldn't be boring, and teaching English shouldn't be boring either. If you're bored, it probably means your students are bored, and besides, why would you want to have a boring job? Supplement the language focus by incorporating games, music and other fun activities to bring fun and excitement to your lessons. The classroom atmosphere of TESOL is quite active. Through the TESOL course, you will change your boring teaching method.
